Mighty House Anniversary Donation: LIHI’s Tiny House Program

Mighty House Anniversary Donation: LIHI’s Tiny House Program

Every year Mighty House makes an anniversary donation as one initiative towards supporting the greater community. This year we focused that donation to the Low Income Housing Institute of Seattle.

Over the past several years LIHI has developed nine tiny house villages in Seattle and more recently, are in Olympia. Together they will serve approximately 1000 people annually – including familites with children as well as individuals – with housing and services to help the community more out of homelessness.

LIHI is currently raising matching funds for their Tiny House Village Program through USA’s Today’s “A Community Thrives – CrowdRise Campaign”. If this campaign is successful, LIHI will become eligible for a grant between $25,000 and $100,000 to continue their incredibly impactful work addressing the homeless problem in our region.

Last month, we were honored to accept the 2017 REX Award for Green Remodeling Excellence from the Master Builders Association! We had an incredibly fun evening and would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of our staff, partners, supporters, and awesome clients who made our winning project, the Deep Green Westwood Addition, possible! We truly couldn’t do our work without you! This project implemented beautiful and innovative design solutions, advanced heating and ventilation, and creative reuse and salvaged materials.

NW Green Home Tour, April 25-26

Come one come all! Together Mighty House Construction and our sister company, Mighty Energy Solutions, are co-hosting two homes on the 2015 NW Green Home Tour! This year tour sites south, central, and east of downtown locations will be open Saturday with north sites open Sunday.

Westside Remodel and Heat Conversion, April 25. Young Architecture designed a simple and sweet, 2-story, energy efficient addition to give this family a little breathing room. Mighty House was not the general contractor (although did encourage some finish selections) but rather our role was advisory in implementing a hybrid heating system (infrared heat panels coupled with a ductless heat pump). Come experience this cutting edge system. There is much to learn and be inspired by from this home. — Saturday, Apr 25, 11am-5pm, 3443 49th Ave SW, Seattle

Blue Kitchen Ravenna Renovation, April 26. Kitchens are the heartstone of the home. After raising a family in this classic home, the kitchen had reached its limits. In partnership with the homeowner’s vision and Greenhome Solutions design team, MHC carpenters helped the homeowners achieve their goals of an updated kitchen that not only met their dark green renovation goals but also would sustain their needs and give them an enjoyable, beautiful space to sip their morning coffee. —Sunday, Apr 26, 11am-5pm, 5708 26th Ave NE, Seattle

These homes will be open to the public free of charge from 11am-5pm. For more information about these sites and others on the 2015 NW Green Home Tour visit NWGreenHomeTour.org

The 2014 NW Green Home Tour was a Huge Success!

The 2014 NW Green Home Tour was a Huge Success!

The 2014 NW Green Home Tour was WONDERFUL! It was a beautiful day, and with more than 30 sites, there was a lot to see and do!

Mighty House was proud to host two sites on the tour this year:

BruceGHTOur personal residence, A Mighty Efficient Remodel, featured a progressive remodel with tons of energy upgrades, a bathroom remodel, new cisterns and dozens of eco-friendly details to inspire and delight. We had professionals from Green Depot (finishes and materials), Artisan Electric (solar installation), EarthSystemsNW (cisterns), Habitat Audits (energy auditing), NW Natural Lighting (solatubes), and Ducoterra (radiant ceiling heat manufacturer) helping make this location an informative and energetic site.

Although most visitors were coming just to get ideas and inspiration, a few came specifically to see the radiant heat panels we have used throughout our home and are now representing with our new company, Mighty Energy Solutions.

DSC04264Our other site, a Broadview Kitchen Remodel was another huge hit. Co-hosted by the remodel’s interior designer, Entero Design, the kitchen and adjoining rooms offered a warm welcome to visitors with their fresh and healthy finishes, pleasing colors, and open layout. Thank you to 4Evergreen Countertops (countertop solutions), Artisan Electric (solar installers) and Silicon Energy (local solar panel manufacturers) for helping make this location a great opportunity for tour goers to learn.

We really appreciate the opportunity to participate in the NW Green Home Tour each year, and thank all of our visitors for taking the time to come out. We also owe a huge thank you to Tom and Rebecca for opening up their home to the masses.

Wonder what fabulousness we will put on the tour next year…!?
