With Halloween over and Thanksgiving quickly approaching, holiday shopping is on minds everywhere. Stores have already started playing Christmas music and aisles are stocked with decorations, candy, and gifts.

At Mighty House Construction, we’ve made a commitment to two things: No Shopping on Thanksgiving Day and Buying Local First. Although we know some people don’t mind working on Thanksgiving day, we aren’t fans of sales tactics that lure people away from family time just to get a great deal. And frankly, the biggest culprits are the big box stores.

Instead, we will be spending our time and money supporting local businesses like McClendon Hardware, where you can find trees and decor for the home,PCC Markets, where you can get a holiday meal prepared for your extended brood, Northwest Art & Frame, where you can pick up art supplies for your holiday cards, Click! Design that Fits for fun, unique housewares and more, and of courseStuffed Cakes, the most amazing cupcakes – including vegan and gluten-free options that taste just like the “real thing.” Check out the Think Local and Chinook Book websites to find businesses in your neighborhood or just take a stroll – you never know what you will find!
