One of the great things about Seattle is that there are always a plethora of ways to celebrate Earth Day!
One of our favorites is the Seattle Art Museum’s Earth Day Celebration at the Olympic Sculpture Park on April 20. Join CoolMom and enjoy spring in Seattle with a day of hands-on environmental activities; tours about the site history and ecology of the park; art-making inspired by the natural world; performances by great local musicians; and delicious natural, organic eats. Find out more!
We’re also really excited about the Spokespeople Bike Ride, happening April 21. Spokespeople brings together new and experienced urban cyclists to help to take some of the mystery out of using a bicycle for daily activities. All levels of riders are welcome.
Earth day is also a great time to think about how you can show a little love to mother earth year round. This great article on the Seattle’s Child blog lists several manageable commitments that families make. It also includes a list of ways to help your family follow through on the commitment. Tips include finding small projects that make kids feel successful or finding something your family can connect to personally, writing down the change you want to make and recognizing your accomplishment when you’ve achieved your goal.
Let us know what your family comes up with. We’d love to hear about it!
