We are currently hiring a Lead Carpenter (Full-Time), Residential Carpenter (Full-Time), and a Bookkeeper + Administrative Assistant (Part-Time). Details for each of these positions are below.

Lead Residential Carpenter

Mighty House Construction is searching for a full-time Lead Carpenter (minimum of 6-8 years experience) with a well-rounded understanding of residential construction and interest in sustainable building practices. Our office is in West Seattle while the work extends (primarily) throughout the city of Seattle.

As a small and BUSY company, we need someone who can work independently and with others, is willing to take on varied tasks on projects ranging from new home construction and major remodels to kitchen and bath renovations and even small projects. Specializing in sustainable/eco-friendly remodeling.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 6-8 years of carpentry experience, preferably on high-end custom and spec homes and remodels
  • Ability to perform and lead all aspects of rough through finish carpentry according to plans and specifications
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic residential electrical and plumbing problems
  • Provide and use standard carpentry hand tools and personal protection equipment
  • A commitment to high quality work and excellent time management
  • Commitment to promoting a safe and productive work environment (personally and for co-workers)
  • Able to communicate concepts, concerns, thoughts and ideas both written and orally to others including supervisors, team members and clients
  • Ability to have positive interactions with clients
  • Display self-motivation and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Reliable personal transportation to get to job sites, go in-between jobs and obtain supplies
  • Personal cleanliness, authentic character and a positive attitude

Residential Carpenter

Seattle-based, Mighty House Construction, is searching for a full-time Carpenter with a well-rounded understanding of residential construction and interest in sustainable building practices. Our office is in West Seattle while the work extends primarily throughout the city limits of Seattle.

As a small but BUSY company, we need someone who can work independently or with others, is willing to take on varied tasks and is able to lift and carry 80+ pounds. Experience tiling is a plus but not necessary.

Our projects range from small “handyman” projects to new home construction and everything in between. We specialize in eco-friendly interior spaces including kitchens, bathrooms, custom cabinetry and furniture fabrication and installation.

The desired candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • 2-4 years carpentry experience (remodeling preferred)
  • A well-rounded understanding of residential construction and carpentry (including demo, framing, siding, drywall, window and door installation, and finish work)
  • A commitment to high quality work – Ability to promote a safe and productive work environment. – standard carpentry tools and personal protection gear
  • A commitment to safety – personally and for co-workers
  • Ability to communicate well with team members
  • Ability to have positive interactions with clients
  • Cell phone service
  • Reliable personal transportation – not only get to job sites but also go in-between jobs and obtain supplies in a timely fashion

P/T Bookkeeper + Administrative Assistant

Mighty House Construction is a very busy, sustainable home remodeling company. Our office is run by a husband-wife team and full-time office guru, 4 full-time staff rule the field with 1-3 occasional temps, and a friendly canine provides morale support (or trip hazard – you be the judge) in the office. It is a small and full office attached to the garage on our home’s property in West Seattle (bus #21). This position is 20-25 hours per week and is to begin ASAP. Please no telecommuting or remote work offers.

 

Responsibilities
Bookkeeping (65%)
  • Expense Tracking, Accounts Payable & Receivable, Account Reconciliation
  • We run 3-6 jobs at one time. All finances are run through Quickbooks 2016 on a Mac
  • All expenses are tracked to the client:job and classed per task.
  • There are about 5 accounts to reconcile on a weekly basis (monthly at minimum)
  • Tracking company credit card usage (for owners and 3-4 employees)
  • Checking emails, shared to-do lists, and project management software on a daily basis
  • Invoice clients in accordance with project contract, and track payments
  • Run Job/Project Cost Reports on a weekly basis
  • File hardcopies of all financials
  • Checking emails, shared to-do lists, and project management software on a daily basis
Project Administration (20%)
  • Translate handwritten project estimates and enter into Excel
  • Assist in setting initial job schedules, and updating schedules online as needed
  • Assist in acquiring bids and estimates from subcontractors
  • Manage contract process and job documentation
  • Manage, track, and enter change orders
Office Management (15%)
  • Schedule and organize meetings
  • Enter and update contact information for customers, subcontractors, etc. in online database
  • Order/purchase office supplies as needed (online and in-person)
Required Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of full time (or equivalent) experience in bookkeeping
  • Highly skilled in Quickbooks and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
  • A methodical thinker, with an extremely high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Is curious, asks questions and is able to collect and synthesize data from multiple sources
  • An effective problem solver – able to maintain clear, consistent systems and devise new ones where necessary
  • Possesses superior oral and written communication skills
  • Works well in collaboration with others, but can also work independently to accomplish goals
  • Familiarity with online customer tracking databases
  • Experienced and comfortable working in a Macintosh and PC environment
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
Preferred, but not required:
  • Knowledge (or interest) of the construction industry and sustainability
  • Ability to complete monthly, quarterly taxes, DOR, W-2s, and 1099s
  • Ability to oversee Payroll Processing (using intuit online and time tracking app to upload staff hours into Quickbooks)
